About me
I am a Labour Councillor and Cabinet Member in Camden, London (UK). I’ve been active in the Party for many years, helping to get people elected, fighting for social justice and campaigning on many issues dear to my heart. Mostly at the moment I am very angry with the Tory/Lib Dem coalition. Just so you know, repeated use of the word fair doesn’t mean it is fair.
When I’m not politicking I’m also an Arsenal and Art Gallery fan. Drink far too much coffee, love good food. Intermittent gardener. And IMHO London is the best city in the world.
I live in Camden with my husband and have done for years.

As an unemployed (was i?) single parent of three i felt very strongly about the changes that were made under the labour government to welfare and benefits. There was no help or training available to me that would help get me into a job and things were just made harder for me. I missed my sign on day by 24 hours due to my daughter going off the rails and disappearing and I lost a weeks benefit even though i was a single parent. That same week i also missed a half hour appointment with a4e and lost another 2 weeks money. Can you imagine my distress? Do you understand how this has affected me? It’s devastating, totally unfair and counter productive.
As far as i can see the changes were ‘Treasury lead’ and nothing to do with a fair society.
As you say “repeated use of the word fair doesn’t mean it is fair”.
I am 53 this year and voted Labour all my life until the recent election when i voted Green.
Your support would be very welcome:

Hi Richard,
as a member of Camden’s Development Control Committee I can’t make any comment or action surrounding a planning application that could be construed as predetermining the decision.
For this reason, I can’t sign your petition – or indeed any others relating to planning applications that will come before Camden’s Development Control.
Thanks.
